The government claimed that the ministry was initially named the Ministry of Happiness and purpose fulfillment but due to some typographical error, the 'purpose' changed to 'couple'.
In a statement released by Governor Rochas Okorocha's chief press secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, the Imo state governor blamed a typographical error for changing the name of the Ministry of Happiness and Purpose Fulfillment, to the Ministry of Happiness and Couple's Fulfillment, Vanguard reports. Onwuemeodo said:
“There was a typographic error in the first statement issued on the swearing in of the new commissioners. The word “Couple” was inadvertently written, instead of the word “Purpose,” we regret that."
