Explosion At Spare Parts Workshop As Enugu Hold LG Elections

There was an explosion in Enugu on Saturday as residents went to the polls to elect leaders at the local government level.

The explosion took place at a spare parts workshop on Brodrick Street in the Coal Camp axis of the Enugu State capital, created panic in the area.

The Enugu State Police Command has, however, called on residents to go about their business as it was a minor explosion which did not affect voting activities at the polling unit close to the site of the explosion.

Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Ebere Amarizu, said in a short statement that no life was lost and that operatives of the Explosive Ordinance Department of the command were at the scene.

According to him, the operatives will conduct an analysis of the scene and the explosion to find out the cause of the workshop and its nature.

The Coal Camp axis is an enclave of artisans – welders, mechanics, auto electricians and more.
